Hello everyone,
Hope everyone is excited as me to get back on the water!
Getting ready to de-winterizing my boat. Last winter, winterizing for the first time since ownership, I realized my sea strainer basket is missing the bottom, motor 6CTA Cummins , anyone know the sea strainer part number? My cap on the Groco (I thnk it’s a Groco) is missing all the model number.
I called Groco with my measurements, and they told me the model number should be at the bottom of the bowl, I tried looking for it yesterday, no luck
I took measurements. I purchased a replacement by using the measurements, doesn’t look right BS-12.
Length with handle 11.5
Length without Handle 9.5
Width 2.9
some pics
Thanks everyone

The closest I see is strainer number ARG-2515 and basket # BS-9 (stainless), but here is the page you can confirm with. It helps to know the port size on the strainer (hose size)...

Are you sure the basket needs a base? Perhaps it just fits into the housing in such a way to effectively block off the ends, so the water can only flow through the sides to trap debris?

Re: 2000 carver 506 - 6CTA cummins Sea Strainer Basket
Should be an enclosed base basket. The top of the basket sits flush around the opening of the inside of the strainer housing. The strainer inlet port guides raw water into the top opening of the basket, water flows through the basket while trapping debris inside it on it's way out through the basket holes and outlet port. Most of the heavy stuff falls to the bottom of the basket. You pull the basket out and all the debris is inside the basket which makes it easy to empty and clean.
Unless I'm thinking of a different one, pretty sure the later Groco baskets have a black plastic base.

If you still have trouble finding a replacement, you could probably rig a base out of just about any material that's ~3/8" or so, and either use a hose clamp to secure it at the bottom or drive a few screws around the circumference.

Viper/km1125 - thanks for replying, i just order 3 different sizes and praying one works out, will return the other 2.
KM1125 - Yep always thinking outside the box, seems like i need to keep this statement on hand with this boat. "There's more than one way to skin a cat"
