Rear Deck Wet Bar Outlet & Ice Maker AC Power

Post by mjk1040 »

Ahoy All! It's been awhile!
I have lost AC Power to the wet bar area outdoor "weather proof" outlet on the port side, which also supplies AC power to the outlet inside the wet bar to run the ice maker. The GFI on the port side over the couch is good and seems to be working as it should, as we have AC power on the port side in the aft cabin. I took the weather proof outlet apart only to find that it was totally shot inside so I replaced it. Figured that was my no power issue, not! Long time local mechanic and grew up with the Carvers says I'm missing a GFI some where? I only know of one on each side of the boat. Any time we overloaded this outlet it would trip the breaker on the panel only, never had it trip the GFI on the port side of the boat. This Wet Bar & Ice Maker was an optional addition in 1998, so I assuming there's a junction box somewhere? Any Ideas Appreciated! In the mean time I'll keep trying to trace this outlets supply line.
On another note, aft cabin 12K A/C unit sometimes pegs the amp meter on the panel when it turns on and sometimes will trip it's breaker. Thinking the capacitor is getting bad and believe it's located in the Marine Airrrrr metal box next to the A/C unit. Is Marine Airrr still in business? Goig to open box next trip and see if I can get a capacitor number off it. How's fuel cost around? $ 6.00/gal here! :captain:

The capacitor should be an easy repair. Doesn't have to be Marine Airrr specific, just the right physical size and mfd and volts ratings.

You likely have another GFCI somewhere. I've found them in unusual places. Once, on a Sea Ray, there was one inside a very small cabinet in the head, even though there was a regular outlet just outside that small cabinet. You'd never think two outlets would have been located that close, with one hidden in the cabinet.
