I put my voltmeter to it and nothing. So, I then did the stick my finger in and also nothing. Not sure what it is, or what it does.

Hey Rick, I actually saw something that looked like this on another boat this past weekend. I was told it was an old phone connection?????

You could be on to something there. The only thing is the other end of this whatever it is, is on the outside of my flybridge on the port side. The part in the photo is on the salon wall on the starboard side. I am still curious as to what it might be.

I am wondering if anyone else here who has an 81 or 82 3007 Aft Cabin has the same thing on their boat.

Looks like an old connector for a VHF microphone where the unit would be mounted remotely and the mic cord mounted on the side of a console or bulkhead.

I believe this is for a light. It must have been for one of those flexible type light fixtures. I can't say i know for sure but, i can see the bayonet type connectors inside the socket just like the kind you see on a light bulb. A light push and a slight right hand twist and it seats the fixture. Must have been an option at one time cause i can't see some one intentionally installing that.
