Raritan Crown Electric Head.
New (to me) Raritan Criwn electric head. I'm replacing a manual Jabsco. It will not draw water into the bowl unless I remove the check ball. The pressure from the raw water inlet feed is weak at best. The impeller is new and turns freely. Is significant water pressure necessary to disengage the check ball? I thought the impeller did all the work.

Re: Raritan Crown Electric Head.
The ball may not be round anymore if not new and getting stuck. See if the ball rolls evenly.
Thanks

Re: Raritan Crown Electric Head.
Check the ball as mentioned.
Is there a gasket behind the pump cover? If she sucks air, she won't pump. Check your hose connections too on the intake side. Was there significant wear on the inside surface of the cover or the inside pump body?

@viper. There is a small crack in the pump housing. This is bound to be the issue. Thanks.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have had nothing but problems with the Raritan heads. If you don't want to go with the vacuflush try the electric jabsco. Add the freshwater flush solenoid and your wife wont be complaining about the head smells.

Re: Raritan Crown Electric Head.
I've had three. Complete take out and rebuild. Use my fresh water tank for the supply. I don't use fresh water, we always stay at a marina and always have bottled water aboard. And scotch.
Anyway, after rebuilds, never a problem.
Before the rebuilds, they were not balanced, left too much or not enough water in the bottom, didn't suck up the water, didn't flush well. Compete overhaul fixes all of that.

Thanks all. Found a crack in the pump housing. Tried an epoxy fix - no luck. New pump housing and problem solved.
