1994 390 CPMY 7.4 Mercruisers

Post by tonyiiiafl »

Anyone know what the WOT should be on this boat with these engines? I can hit 4,000 to 4100 max and am doing 29 MPH. Is this where I should be?

Seems about right, our 1998 355 AC/MY with 7.4L Crusaders top out at 4,400 rpm and about 31 mph.
I questioned a very knowledgeable Carver mechanic why our props pitch was not what the Carver spec sheet stated they should be, he advised me that Carver would correct over or under rpm by adjusting prop pitch to keep them where they should be. I'd check your props size and pitch, they may have been changed? Mike

Your 94 most likely has carbs and not fuel injection. You may be at the proper top rpm. The max rpm is usually on the rocker cover sticker along with the timing setting and plug type.
