Cranking Batteries

I need to replace the four batteries for the engines. Looking for recommendations on the replacements. Also are all four cranking batteries? Thanks.

According to the Carver Spec sheet, which you can look up on carveryachts.com, there are only 3 engine batteries. If you have a jenny, the forth would be for that. The group size should be on the original batteries, I'm guessing group 31's, which I do believe have been replaced in some brands now with group 29's. These are the biggest sizes I'm aware of in a marine battery. Now that's if you have gas engines, if you have diesels, you may have 2 batteries for each engine. Guess we need more specifications on what we are dealing with here. But the bottom line IMO is go big or go home! Then again if you have gas engine there would be 1 battery for each engine, a house battery and a jenny battery. I had no luck finding the owners manual for your yea and model. You should have the owners manual, look in all the compartments in the boat. Mike

I'm assuming these are gas engines, and if that's the case, I'm wondering why 4 "engine" batteries. That's not that common for gassers. Are you sure they are "engine"/start batteries? Or are you talking about all the batteries on board?

For cranking batteries on gassers, I won't go any less than 1000MCA/800CCA especially if EFI.

The batteries/bank used for house loads should be deep cycle units.

I have 1 starting battery for both (not each) engines, which are 315hp 6BTA's. 1200 cranking amps 8D. Works just fine.
