Thanks for keeping an eye out! As someone else already stated, it has to be 8.5 beam or I can't tow it around this country without special permits. I've actually got my eye on one model, (well, two but they are the same boat), either a 2006 Chaparral Signature 276 or a 2006-2009 Chaparral Signature 270. They are all kinda the same in the 27' class, but the Chap has a swivel helm that joins it into the cockpit conversation which opens up the cockpit feel, and it has a convertible sunpad and a great swim step. Seemingly small differences but when you're talking 27' every little thing counts.

John Snow - Chaparrel makes a great boat, one of my favorites. The hull is solid glass and strong as heck! If memory serves me right, they use like a 14mm rove matting between hand laid layers of fiberglass. They also use an overlap technique of joining the top deck to the hull that places them among the best! Little heavier boat compared to peers, but I'll take strength over weight any time. What power packages are on them? Hours? If one has a dual prop system, that is really helpful in maneuvering. That heavier hull will help with side to side list that most 8.5' beams produce also. Thanks for keeping an eye out! As someone else pointed out, I need the beam to be 8.5 feet to be able to tow it around the country without special permits. Actually I have my eye on one particular model, the Chaparral Signature 270 or Signature 276 (same boat in 2006, I'm looking for model years 2006-2009). Most of the 27' cruisers are very, very similar. The big difference to me in this particular model is the helm that swivels to become part of the cockpit, greatly opening up the cockpit (in relative terms) as well as having a convertible sunpad and a great swim step. If anyone sees one with a big block and gennie, let me know!
