3807 hull and stringers

Postby bud37 » August 6th, 2015, 2:08 pm

Hi there again.....new question.....when did Carver change from stringers with wood and hull coring to the glass top hat style stringer etc in the 3807 models??
We seem to have moved on from the 370 to more of the MY, for the room, still not happy about the stairs but no denying the comfort.....Mike
The above is strictly my opinion.

My understanding is that if the model number ends in a 7 such as 3807, 3607, etc. there is no wood below the water line including the stringers. Perhaps someone else can confirm. Mine is an '89 3807 and they are hollow glass stringers.

Typical areas for any boat make of that vintage; deck at bow where it's penetrated by gear like windlass, switch, cleats, etc. Bow pulpit, swim platform, stanchion bases. If the one you're looking at has been kept out in the open as opposed to a covered slip, then pay more attention to these areas. While nothing I found on mine was of structural concern, there were some higher moisture readings in these areas but I expected as much. All good though...I know a guy! ;-)

We love her. Can't beat the room for a 38'. I will be making a few changes to bring her up to a few of today's standards like DC battery wiring and upgrading to Vacuflush toilets, replacing permeated black water lines, upgrade electronics, etc.
