1989 4207 - Living Aboard

Post by PINCHME »

I would enjoy hearing from anyone who has done the liveaboard experience on a 4207 in colder climates. Do's Don'ts best plan for heat, etc...

We don't have a 42, but we do live aboard. Going on 2 years. We live at the Newport Harbor Hotel in the winter. It is amazingly cheap. You get electical, cable tv, wifi, water, they shovel the docks, so far you get free parking, we get regular pump outs, you have access to the hotel amenities (heated indoor pool, sauna, showers, etc.),. There are about 12-15 liveabords there. We shrinkwrap, put a door in and use multiple electric heaters. We heat the engine compartment so I don't winterize. Heather is the dockmaster and will take good care of you. If you have any questions, PM me and I'll give you my number. You can call me with any questions. :usa:

I'd put a Webasto heating system in and you'll have no problem. I lived aboard for over 15 years in DC and Maryland with a good heating system and never had a problem. You'll never regret putting a good heating and A/C system in your boat while living aboard.
