Passenger capicity 1989 santego 3467
Hello all, my wife just asked me how many passengers we can have on our newly purchased 1989 santego 3467. I know the spec's tout that the bridge can seat 10 people but that doesn't really let me know the total capicity in people or pounds. Anybody know the answere. Thanks, guy

Most boats over 26' are "yacht certified". This means there are no USCG regulations regarding number of passengers or weight. That being said, a little common sense needs to be used. Can you physically fit 30 people on the boat? most likely. Is 30 people safe? Unlikely. For a 34 I would say 8-10 for a day trip but its your call. Make sure you have life jackets for each passenger, you all have room to move freely and could exit the boat quickly in an emergency.

My 3007 Aft Cabin has seating for 5 up on the bridge. That would be the maximum number of persons I would want up top either anchored or running.

Good point Mike. I guess you also need to consider the more on board, the more activity and wear and tear on the beer cooler and its contents. This could cause your trip to end prematurely as an empty cooler is almost as bad (maybe worse) than an empty fuel tank! You can always tow the boat back, but its difficult to have beer delivered.

Be very careful.....
Say each person at 200lbs (exaggerated) x 10 people is 2000lbs net weight. but, you need to mulitiply that number times the number of distance (in feet) from the keel to the bridge floor to get the "bending moment" factor. This is the true impact of the passenger weight when on the bridge. That is also a stationary factor, doesn't take into consideration the roll factor.
Personally, I wouldn't come close to the "seats 10" sticker. Maybe for cocktails on the hook or dockside, or if you have an additional 10 peeople on the cabin floor level to offset the bridge weight....

Lyndon, I never saw this one before. Such a shame , senseless loss of life. Wow, 27 people on a 34. They had to be stacked like sardines in a can, I wonder how anyone could have thought that could be safe.

Yep, sad. I have a buddy who boats out of the same area. I had a party at the dock 2 years ago and had 42 people on my 506 - I can't imagine 27 on a 34. And I was at the dock.
