My boat was bought new (not by me) in august of 1998 for just under 350k A lot of money for the time, which would now buy you a nice 30' center console.
Anyway, if you look at the dates on the invoice, you will see the aux fuel tank failed and was replaced in just under three years time. I believe these boats only had a one year warranty for this type of item. I know I would not have been happy with a 4k invoice on a 3 year old boat. Hopefully they used a better tank when it was replaced. As of last season it works fine.
Also, the original owner told me they pretty much disassembled the aft state room and removed the tank from inside the boat.

Wow, that's a much worse life span than I thought. Shortest one I've heard of but there are a few variables that will affect that. Thanks for sharing Tom
Wonder how many hours that $3k labour represents?

Yes, its hard to believe one could fail that quickly. I would think It would have to have been faulty welds or bad aluminum.
I don't think electrolysis would take it so soon?
I would think Reynolds wrap would hold up longer.

Well I'm thinking 50 to 60 hours of labor! And that it would cost u 1.5 to 2 times as much to have it done today! I/m still thinking they had to cut out part of the sub wall behind the aft cabin wall to get that tank out and back in from what I can see looking around behind the aft cabin wall in our 355.
