Hello!
I am new to the site and hoping I can pick some brains on the Carver Riviera 2807. I have been a fan of Carvers ever since I had pictures of them posted up on my wall as a teenager! We are in the final stages of purchasing a 1983 Carver Riviera 2807 and I was hoping to hear from anyone who has owned one regarding the pros, cons, things to watch out for, their experiences with the boat etc.
Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forum and maybe Carver....anyway, I did not have a Riv. but always liked them and we did look at them way back when..liked the boat having two ends separated.......we ended up with the 28 mariner ( same hull as the Riv )....I hope you have a surveyor working for you as he should have a good look at the stringers, rudder supports and bulkheads for moisture....just some stuff off the top of my head......good luck with your adventure......

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Thanks very much! I’ll be looking into a surveyor. Glad to hear you liked the boat and thanks for the areas to focus on during the survey. I always liked the Mariners as well.

Our first boat was a Riviera. Used it in lake Michigan, Chesapeake bay, and the Pacific ocean in Ventura.
Very good boat.
The only hard thing about it was engine access.
Learned the best thing to do is remove the seats and everything else, and then engine room work was easy

Glad to hear you were so happy with the Riviera! I had heard that engine access was a bit of a pain so thanks for the tip. It looks like the seats have slide bolts that undo so the seats come out. I’ll make sure to do that when engine work is required.
Thanks again!

Welcome Aboard. The Carver Riveria is a nice boat and if I am correct the 07 designation means it is an aft cabin model. You will have a lot of room aboard. I have a 30' 3007 Aft Cabin model and am amazed at the room onboard.
Hope it all works out for you and you will soon, if the weather ever breaks be out on and enjoying the waters. Best of luck.

Thank you! Yes, you are correct, it is the aft cabin model so does give that nice separation and the boat certainly does have great space. Currently waiting out this lovely mid-April ice storm...maybe this means we’ll get lucky and have an extended summer (said while knocking on wood).
Thanks for the reply,
