Shower Faucet

Post by CaptBob »

I have a leak. Don't like leaks. This one is in the shower faucet in the head. (yes, a dreaded wet head! now even wetter!)

Boat 04 360SS, the single lever faucet is leaking out of the single lever. I suspect there is a cartridge in there, much like a conventional faucet, but then again... I know it's a boat. Quick search has yielded no replacements, as the lines are on 6 inch centers, and the RV market seems to like 4 inch centers. I haven't figured out how to remove the handle, seems to be a small emblem, (with the hot/cold sign on it) that if removed would allow me access, however, I suspect that will destroy the little emblem. Not entirely against that, but first trying to do no harm.

Anybody been inside their faucet?

There's a very good chance that what you are looking for can be found at your local hardware. Don't limit yourself to RV-Marine stores.

Pictures would probably help.

Even if you can't find the entire cartidge, a good hardware store would have various O-rings that could serve as replacements to the ones on your existing unit if you can figure out how to get it apart.

Have a look real close look to the emblem you speak of......is there is a small slot for a screwdriver to pry off, like the ones at home... :beergood:
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Ill get some pics the next day or so, I'm hoping for a "normal" cartridge solution.

Any luck?
I am having the same problem it need to replace my fixture on a 1990 36 aft cabin. Cannot find an access panel to get behind the shower wall so I can remove the old fixture. Does anyone know how to access the backside of the shower wall to remove the shower fixture?

No resolve on this one yet. The Admiral discovered that if the valve is left "parked" in the cold position, it does not leak. So I am ashamed to admit, that project went to the back of the line.

This is my guy in question. That is the emblem that will soon suffer. :-O

That emblem is a plug with a allen screw hiding underneath. Pop it out carefully and don't let it fall down the drain.

And whoever mounted that to the surface should be smacked upside the head a few times! There should be a couple chrome-plated sleeves covering the piping down to the surface and the nuts UNDERNEATH the surface!
