2001 350 Mariner
Anyone know when Carver quit encapsulated plywood in the stringers on this model? Also balsa cored sides to the chine?

Re: 2001 350 Mariner
Welcome to the forum....have you bought this boat or considering.......if I remember right there was a thread about this sort of thing and Kenny, I think Ramsport47 gave some good info about when and what models.....One thing, the 2001 model we have has fibreglass structural stringers and no wood below the waterline according to Carver brochures.........

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Thanks, we are considering the purchase, and the vessel has been used/stored uncovered in fresh water (the WORST for rotting wood and balsa cores....

Re: 2001 350 Mariner
Welcome aboard. I don't recall a year but if you have easy access prior committing, you can tell at a glance what type of stringers you have. That will be the clue to the rest of the hull build. The hollow stringers will be much wider than the cored ones, about 6 inches or so, and you'll see round access plates in the vicinity of the motor mounts. While this type of build may alleviate the concerns for the condition of the stringers and hull, I can't stress enough the importance of getting a survey done. There are a lot of other areas on every make that should be assessed. Hopefully a member with the same model and year will chime in or you can also place a call into Carver, I'm sure they'll be will to answer all your questions, they're very good at customer service and support.
Hope all goes well and in your favour. Keep us posted.

Sharkpit - Carver brochures say that they no longer used wood below the water line starting in the year 2000.

Re: 2001 350 Mariner
Sharkpit - The 2001 model year was the first year Carver did not have encapsulated stringers in the Mariner series. You have solid glass in addition to solid glass in the hull below waterline. If you call Carver with the hull number, they can pull the actual construction log to verify, as well as give you info on other questions you may have. Still have a survey done. A boat, any boat, is only as good as the care and maintenance of the previous owners. Good luck!

Re: 2001 350 Mariner
Sharkpic - where are you located? Is this boat in Wisconsin? A friend of mine is listing his 350 Mariner for sale, and if this is the one, I can give you some input.
