Urgent and I need help
Okay call me freaking out at this point because I came to my boat today to find my bilges almost full of water. I need a drip less shaft seal tomorrow or Monday for a 405 7.4 mercs with velvet drives.
My starboard shaft seal is leaking and my mechanic 10 hours away where I bought the boat said he replaced the shaft seals but didnt.
He did however replace all my bilges to Rule 2000's without checking to see if electrical system would support it and as ya have told me, it will not.
15 amp for 2000 compared to 7.5 for the Rule 1500. So I have not replaced the bilges back to 1500 as of yet but after today that will happen next week.
I need to know where I can purchase a drip less packing unit and overnight it for Monday if possible.
Thank ya for everything

You do not have dripless shaft logs! Those use a packing material. Normal to have them drip a bit.

Re: Urgent and I need help
Doesnt really look like a Tide Marine to me but what do I know. I am learning so much about this boat the hard way it seems.
Thankfully I am by to check on the boat every other day or daily.
Going back to 1500 bilges immediately

Re: Urgent and I need help
I am on a lake so I understand saltwater which I dont have keeps the water trickle down on the shaft.
Can I go to cripes without removing the shaft because the port side is dry as it can be

Re: Urgent and I need help
Are you saying you want to change to a dripless style? Right now you have traditional logs with packing rope. You will need to haul the boat out to switch to dripless logs.
