Oddly enough everything in the states when it comes to gas and oil is always cheaper, exception Rotella. That comes to $43 US for 5G.

Rotella T4 15w 40
Did my oil changes and all the filters on both engines and generator today. I always used Rotella T4 in my previous gas engines, the SeaDoo and even my summer ragtop. Needless to say I use a lot as the boat alone requires about 12 gallons. They have 5g pails of T4 at Walmart for $57 and some change CDN. Probably the cheapest I have ever seen it as of late. Bought 3 more pails for next years oil change.
Not sure if this is provincial or Canada wide.

Re: Rotella T4 15w 40
I don’t mean to open a can of worm but I thought I read somewhere that Shell changed their Rotella formula to contain less zinc and may not be as useful in gas engines?
I always used Rotella on my previous diesel boat but am paying out the nose for the Merc 25W40 semi-synthetic, would love to go back to Rotella

Darren, I have always run Mobil 1 15/50 full synthetic in my merc gassers. Cheaper than the merc semi, and better oil.

Re: Rotella T4 15w 40
I'll open up another can of worms; in all my OEM training, we've always been taught that Dino oil has a shelf life of a year in an unopened container and that you shouldn't use oil from a container that's been opened for more than 6 months. I prefer not to use anything that's been opened for more than 3 months. Now maybe it's marketing but it is true that Dino oil and additives start to slowly degrade over time. With this in mind, consider that when you buy oil, it may have been on the shelf for who knows how long, then you're keeping it for a year until your next oil change, then you're expecting it to be in you engine for a year and expect it to perform to spec. For this reason, I only buy oils when I plan to use them right away.darrenlife wrote:QR_BBPOST I don’t mean to open a can of worm but?.....
