End of season near

Well All! Tomorrow is it for Cooler By The Lake. Lift at 1PM Central. Set on trailer, then 45 min trip to storage. That is when the Fall/Winter season starts and the off season maintenance begins. I am fortunate enough to store in warm storage, with unlimited access, so the only thing really missing is the rumble of those Crusaders and the adventure on the water. How did the season go so fast???? We did get 5.5 months in the water, but the weather was just weird for a lot of that. Oh well, time for the brain cells to recover after sitting at the dock as much as I did. Among our accomplishments was the Admiral had a complete hip replacement, with a full recovery of just 6 weeks. She was able to get on the boat after just 1 week, so that was pretty amazing. Looks like I will be depending on you all to keep my boating experience going. er

Good to hear the Admiral had a successful procedure, that must big relief for her.......the brain cells for you, not so much... ..

I resemble that remark! Yep, huge relief for her. The recovery period was simply shocking. The surgeon used an anterior access technique that avoids cutting any muscles. She was up and walking the same day. Good luck to you also Bud! er

Unfortunately it is the end of the season. I will most likely pull right around November 1st. This weekend I plan to dump in the fuel stabilizer and top off my tanks. Then take the boat for one last ride to burn off a few gallons of fuel so the tanks have a little room for expansion and contraction.

Winter for me is a time to save up $$ for the next season. Already thinking of what project I need to tackle next season. I do have 5 broken stanchions original Carver installations that need to be replaced. Why Carver used cast zinc instead of stainless steel I will never know. Previous owners have replaces some of them so not it is my turn.

I may also next season do the electronic ignition installation if funds allow. I plan to do a complete install. New distributors, coil and wiring. I will also have new sparkplugs installed at the same time. Looks like I will be spending some money next year. Hope nothing else breaks down so I can do what needs to be done.

I hauled out Tuesday. Water system is winterized, engines, genny, ACs, and heads next. I miss her already!

Haul out for me this year was a bit of an experience. We had ordered up the 40,000 Lb. trailer to come to the Marina to lift 6 boats and relocate in the parking lot. I was first on the list. I drove my boat onto the trailer and they began to lift my boat up with the hydraulics. When they had it up high enough to clear the ramp they began to pull me up the ramp. Have done this for years with no issue. As we were going up the ramp I heard this god awful bang , I assumed the rudder hit the ramp. Turns out the hydraulics on the trailer on the Port side blew. Wasn't sure they were going to be able to lower me back in the water, but by the grace of god there was no issue.

Returned the boat to my slip and the trailer was taken to Parry Sound for the repair. The next day the trailer returned and haul out was a success. The down time gave me a chance to put my rib up for the cover.

Buy the end of the day I was winterized and covered and ready for the snow to fly. It was a lot of work for one day. Next year I think I will break it up into two days, winterize day 1 and cover it on day 2.

I can tell just by looking at her, she does not like being out of the water.

It is done. Cooler is in her storage building now. 50 degrees all winter, so no winterizing. I am a little boated out, so the depression will hold off for a couple of weeks. Had a rough, cold, solo cruise to the lift site so ended on an appropriate note. Will be on this site a lot more often! Nice pics Tireless, Thanks. Wish I could figure out how to do that. er

I'm on the hard, bottom washed, oils and filters changed. Probably going there tomorrow to winterize engines, water and AC and then hauled into an adjacent unheated building for the winter.

Most places up here with indoor heated storage still insist on having boats winterized in case of a power or heating system failure. Hope your location has some sort of alarm/notification system and contingency plan in place, and can remedy quickly before damage occurs.

That would be one heck of a generator unless the place is heated by gas/oil. That being the case a Honda 2000 could probably do it.
