1995 370 Voyager control cables

Post by TDM4253 »

Hi all!
I'm needing to replace my throttle cables at both stations and I'm having trouble finding anyone who knows how long they are. I'm fairly sure that none of the 4 cables will be the same length. I could of course pull them out and measure, however the spaces they travel through are inaccessible at best. I really want to use the old cables to pull in the new ones.

Have any of you done this job?

Thanks,
Tyler

Welcome aboard Tyler.

Take a look near the ends of the cables at both the engine and remote control. There will be a number stamped on them that tells you the type and length. The last set of numbers will be the length usually in inches; ......144" = 12 foot cable. You'll also need to ensure you get the correct style of cable as there are several configurations depending on your equipment. That model should make up part of the number on the cable as well.

Why do you need to replace them, are they stiff? Did you isolate the cables to rule out the remote control? Also make sure there are no tight turns as that will increase the amount of effort needed to shift or throttle.
