1990 4207 aft cabin bilge pump
I need a new forward bilge pump. The hose broke off of the original one. It is 1500 GPH. Does anyone know what a replacement pump would be? Do they even make the original one anymore?

Welcome to the forum......what is the name on the pump you now have and does it have a separate float switch very near it ?
I believe if you take the old one to a good marine store they can match up what you have there. One thing to remember ...unless you are the original owner and know, that pump could have been changed before so may not even be original to the boat.

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

I think the original parts were Rule pumps. You can use any pump that will fit. There are a number of pumps that have a float switch built in. If this is the pump in a shower sump box, make sure the float switch is a low-profile so it fits under the hair filter, to get to the on position. Atwood makes a low-profile float switch. Good luck. Easy fix.

All 1500GPH pumps are sized for 1 1/8' hose so anyone will work. I also think it is a Rule pump. Post a picture and we can probably tell you what you have or need in case someone changed things over the years. One thing for sure is your at the right place. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome aboard.
I wouldn't just get any pump that will fit. Getting the correct pump to fit the hose diameter is definitely important but keep in mind that not all pumps of the same capacity draw the same amount of current. You want to make sure that you don't draw more amperage through those supply wires than they're designed for as that can be dangerous. If that one has been operating for years at its rated load with no apparent ill affects on the wiring/circuit, then it's load is likely within spec for the wiring. Stick to the same amperage draw for the new one or slightly less to be safe but I wouldn't be going over the load rating of the current pump.

Thanks for all the info. The float switch say "Rule A Matic Switch" so it is a Rule but I don't think they make that kind anymore. I will probably install a new one with similar GPH (1500) and check the amperage.

They certainly do and are rather common. https://www.amazon.com/Rule-35A-Matic-S ... 103&sr=8-1
This is probably your pump. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/rule-ind ... mp--215160

That probably is the pump, but it is not the same as the original. My best guess is that it will work. Thanks everyone. This is a great forum for me.
