Interior wood trim

Post by Jphill85 »

hello! I have an 83 3396 Mariner. I have some rot under the window by the galley. It appears that someone tried to repair it with foam. I want to replace the board and fix it properly. I have been told that in the 70's and 80's carver used teak in the interior. If I can get this board off without breaking it, it will be in the 12-15 foot range as it goes from the very back of the salon to the berthing area, do they even sell teak in that length anymore? if not what is a suitable replacement wood for interiors.

Thank you
Josh

We have a 1975 Santa Cruz and I've had to match some of the interior wood. Mine seemed to be Mahogany. I got a pretty good match. You might also try Sapela (SP) though it tends to be a little more red. Jim
