1986 Voyager New Owner!
Admirer, now new owner of a well kept 1986 Carver Voyager 28. Twin Mercrusier 230 inboards with 800 hours.
Will be sailing out of Marinnete WI.
Looks like a wealth of info here on wide ranging topics. I'm new to the forum format, so apologies in advance and advise welcome on best practices.
Neglected fresh water system froze, so will be needing new 40 gallon tank ( and probably much more ).
Carver only had outdated part number, so was hoping an owner could give me dimensions so I can source a replacement. Thanks in Advance!

If you want to explore some other possible tank sizes, check out greatlakesskipper for inventory. I was pleasantly surprised that the price on two tanks I had to buy and the shipping was also a fraction of what I would have paid elsewhere.

Re: 1986 Voyager New Owner!
McCarver - welcome aboard! You disclose home port as Marinette, WI? Your profile says you are in Colorado? Tell me more. I am at the marina just a mile north of Marinette, in Menominee MI. Curious why you are staying in Marinette. Nest Egg is a nice marina, but most boaters prefer to avoid the river currents. Do you know who the previous owners were, or the current name of the boat? I am probably familiar with it. Looking forward to meeting you. If you are interested in Door County cruising, I can help with tips & tidbits. I am very familiar with those waters and destinations. Hope to hear from you. Will you be in the area late April? There are a few places that feature fresh smelt in season. Ummmm!

One more thing. The bolsters in the cockpit for that model were normally a gray color. I have a 16.5 ft roll of Infinity flooring that looks like teak. Got a killer deal on it as a dealer was going out of business. That would be exactly what you would need to cover your cockpit and swim platform. You can have the roll for $380. That is about a third of what the flooring actually sells for. The color is gray with black lines. Here is a link if you want to see it. It is new on the roll.

Re: 1986 Voyager New Owner!
McCarver - sent you an email. My PM system acts a little goofy sometimes. If you need me to go measure that tank, let me know where the boat is.

Re: 1986 Voyager New Owner!
McC - dimensions on the water tank. The one dimension I could not get for sure is the length. Tank was too bloated with a huge ice cube inside, so I could not get the measuring tape to catch. Furthest aft part of tank is under the floor. The tank is very accessible when it is empty, just lift from front end and slide up and out. The tank is 14" wide, 16.5" deep, and about 40" long. There is about 60" of room to fit the length, but the angle to slide in will become more difficult to work with. There is actually 18" of depth available under hatch. You will need all that room to slide in any longer of a tank. If you go shorter, you can use more available depth. I texted a pic. Look at where the fill tube and vent tube are located. I assume the water lines connect to the back end of the tank, but could not see. With the amount of ice in there, I assume the water lines are going to have significant damage, the hot water tank is toast, and the water pump is most likely dead. Link to manual is:
