2003 396 Carver Mattress

Postby Thirdtimelucky » May 2nd, 2021, 1:07 pm

Hello - does anyone have a contact or website of where to purchase new mattresses for a 2003 Carver 396? Looking to replace both forward and aft cabin mattresses.
Thank you in advance!
Michelle

Most likely, you will have to have one custom made as I doubt you will be able to find one on the shelf. Easiest and cheapest way to go...put a 2” topper on your mattress and cut it yourself. Easy, peasy. It will make your mattress way more comfortable.

I have a Carver 44 CMY and we just purchased a 10” foam mattress for the rear state room. It is a queen mattress and I will cut a radius on the corners so it will fit. I will cut the radius with a electric carving knife, after spraying the blades with a silicone spray. A tip from our marine upholstery guy. Was advised that there is no issue with cutting a full foam mattress to size, if it has coils or voids it would work out as good. It is also better if the mattress doesn’t have a quilted cover, a zip on cover is preferable.

The mattress is made buy Maxzzz and is available on Amazon.com. We paid under $300 for it. We will see how it goes. Others have commented on doing this in previous posts with great success.

Once I am done with this, I will work on the “V” birth. Probably take a king foam mattress cut to shape for our model.

We bought a queen latex mattress and cut it to fit. Very supportive and comfortable.

Here is a DIY option I did several years back. Worked very well and still as comfortable as the day I swapped them out. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3240&p=25138&hilit=mattress#p25138
