Automatic Halon Replacement question Kidde Mariner Fyre Watch Model 170 Halon 1211

Postby tricountytrail » May 16th, 2021, 11:39 am

Looking to get this replaced or upgraded any thoughts or ideas?
Kidde Mariner Fyre Watch Model 170 Halon 1211
It is about as big as regular fire extinguisher mounted in a regular mount on bulkhead.
It reads zero pressure and needs to be replaced or recharged.
Thanks for any help.

You can check with any good local fire extinguisher outfit to see what they charge for checking it out and recharging it. Might be less expensive than a new one and would work just as well (provided it is large enough for the space it is supposed to protect).

I don't think they'll recharge with Halon again.

You can't buy new, but you can have existing systems serviced and refilled. At least on this side of the border.

This place is in Lancaster and on their site it says they do hydro testing and halon refills, but I have no specific knowledge about them:

You can get an extinguisher refilled with reclaimed Halon. But you can probably get a new FM or cg2 bottle cheaper. Also, if its empty and didn't discharge, there is a problem with the existing bottle and mechanism.
