Silly question but I was asked and now am curious. I'm sure I was asked because she wanted to know how many friends she could bring. Just bought a 2004 Carver 420 Mariner. There is seating for 7 or 8 on the bridge. Would it be stable with that much weight up high? Have to wait until spring to take it out. Would be good to know before then.

Re: Capacity
Definitely depends on sea state, and how many others are on the total boat.
I would not really want 8 250+ lb guys up on the bridge if it was rough out, but in calm conditions probably isn't that big of a deal, nor would eight ~125lb females or ~60 lb kids would be an issue either.
Loaded fuel tanks and potable water tanks make a difference too, keeping some of that weight down low in the boat.
A 420 is pretty big though. Having a dozen folks on the boat and half those on the bridge shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Capacity
You are not going to feel anything much at all. All 8 people would need to be hanging over one side to create any list feel. The boat is 31,000 lbs dry. Each engine weighs 900 lbs. Add 1800 lbs for 300 gal fuel. Finally, you will notice your bridge is not as high profile as similar length bridge boats. Stability will be just fine, unless you are in 8 ft seas. Great boat! Good luck.
