Hi everyone

The wife and I are closing on a 35 ft. Montego on January 31. The survey went well but the owner needs to repair some items before we close. All of them minor. He really took good care of the boat. I will need to upgrade the electronics.

This is the third boat we have looked at and surveyed. The owners of the other two were not going to do a thing to them. So we bowed out of them. The boating industry needs some serious house keeping. I will leave it at that.
I am .68 and the wife 70 we just want to do some fishing and enjoy the boat in the gulf. :captain:

My experience has been, if the owner took good care for her, then he will take care of those minor things and do it the correct way. Sounds like he had a relationship with his Carver, unlike the 2 previous deals you walked from. That was a good move! How many hours on the Crusaders? What type of drives? The boating industry has a lot of characters. You may want to consider helping the owner with the repairs, just to learn the process. You can also get to know him a little bit, which always gives you a look into how the boat was run in the past. Sounds like you ended up with the best fit! 8-) er

Thanks for the advice Cooler.

He is a snowbird and has fixed almost everything. We moved the closing date back per his request so he can finish the repairs. Part of the deal is a 3 day class on the boat for the admiral and I. I am, going to have updated Garmin electronics installed on the boat. The big problem until close is the boat is on the dry rack in his back yard and he is not there.
We are going to put the boat on the dry and polish and wax her. She has two 454 crusaders installed and both recently rebuilt. The Generator was done two years ago. She is in darn good shape for her age. The owner replaced all carpet and she has a brand new cover on her.
