I replaced both sending units on 32 foot carver montego.
They worked great when I tested them before I installed them in the gas tanks
Now they always read half full no matter have much gas is in the tank...full or almost empty
Any ideas on how to fix them or adjust them...
I bent them and use the exact length as the old ones that I removed.
Also the port side tank looks like it is smaller that the starboard side, if that matters at all
thanks
Steve

Re: Gas gauges-Sending units
Good thought indeed: I was suprised to find the area around the sender. And I just dropped it in not knowing that at first. Replaced it with a vertical floater type thing instead of the one with an arm.
You might solve it by simply turning the unit so that the arm points to the far side of the tank rather than to the front or back of the boat.

Double check your tank grounding.....check continuity between the tank and a known good ground point....follow the green bonding wires. While you are there check the ground/bonding from your fill fittings to ensure spark protection.....
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.
