Stopping by to say hello and thank you for the opportunity to join.
Looking forward to researching various topics about Carvers; specifically the 07 36SS and the 8.1 L engines.
Took ownership of a 2007 Carver 36SS (270 hours) last week after an extensive survey and motored up from Chickamauga Dam to Tellico Lake this past weekend (~152 NM). Had a great trip with no issues.
Safe boating!

Great to hear you had a great trip! Would you happen to have a parts manual on your 36SS ?

I will have to look. I do know that it came with a lot of books, manuals, and documents.
I will follow up this weekend.

Re: New Member 2007 36SS
G36,
Although the trip could be made in a days time (barring lock traffic), we chose to make it a two day trip with a layover at Blue Springs Marina. It's about a 152 NM trip from Chickamauga to Tellico lake.
Hats off to Blue Springs as they have full service for a layover and the dock staff was very very helpful. I do recommend calling ahead to ensure a transient spot is available. They also have 50 and 30 Amp services as well as gas or diesel, restaurant, and usually live music. I believe they charge $10/ft to stay overnight which includes electric and water.
Be cautious going through the locks - Wattsbar was fine; Fort Loudon not so much. They had several gates open flowing water and we encountered barge traffic at the lock. I radioed the lock master about a mile out and he instructed me to wait under the Hwy 321 bridge until he gave us the ok to enter (about an hour). The currents were rough and the amount of limbs and trash in the water was bothersome while we waited. There's really no where to go while you wait except down stream which i didnt want to do due to the currents from the open gates. The fill up inside the lock was a bit fast I thought; lots of boiling/rolling water as we rose up making it difficult to keep off the wall.
Safe boating!
