Dual voltage fridge
A boating friend has an issue with his fridge working only on 110. The 12 volt side is not working. Any ideas where to start checking and chance of finding parts?

Re: Dual voltage fridge
What brand of fridge? What model?
The 12V side requires a good circuit. I would check breakers and fuses and make sure the connection to the fridge is good (not corroded).

Re: Dual voltage fridge
The fridge works off of 120v normally and has a converter to bump things down to 12v which may be on the blink or the switching circuit for this. Some work the other way around and work off of 12v and use a small inverter to bump the voltage up to 120v. Regardless, the issue is most likely the converter/inverter or the circuit that switches this over.

Re: Dual voltage fridge
Use a meter to see if you have 12 volts supplied at the fridge through the 12 volt wiring where it hooks up to the fridge. If there is 12 volts there, the issue is in the appliance side. If there is no 12 volt supply there, the problem lies before the fridge. Check to ensure your 12 volt breaker to that circuit is turned on. There's usually (but not always) dedicated 12 volt and 120V breakers for the fridge though some builds wire the fridge 120V circuit into one of the "outlet" breakers. This will give you an idea in which direction to continue your diagnosis.

Re: Dual voltage fridge
I think if you do a search here, there was the same issue years ago and there was info about changing out the fridge power supplies and what to change them with......
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.
