1977 santa cruz steering cable attchments

Postby srprecup » April 30th, 2023, 1:31 pm

I have a 1977 santa cruze and my steering cable attachment came loose. there's a ball like fitting that is clamped in a c-clamp fitting that provides a hard mount from the cable wire to the yoke that moves the motor. My question is, how tight does that c-clamp have to be and is grease applied to keep it somewhat flexible?

Thanks -
steve

I owned one of those. You have the OMC electric shift, right? I can't remember the details but if you post some photos to refresh my memory, I'll see if I can help.
