Welcome to the forum.....
What area are the stringers you asking about....tophat style are quite wide and hollow, some later models had engine bed stringers that were cored with composite type material ( not wood ), those are much thinner, the difference is obvious. Can't say for sure what your model/year has though. Hopefully someone with a 325 around your model year will chime in....

Are you sure there is no wood? I spoke with different people and everyone thinks there is wood.

Engine mounts on the center and outer stringers. I wanted to know if they still used wood in 1997. Some say yea and some say no. Hate to drill into them to find out.

From the top about 2 inches and high about 6 inches but I would have to do a measurement. I am not at the boat presently.

Cooler wrote:Source of the post Almost sure they are similar to my 95. They are cored with marine plywood, soaked in resin. A friend of mine tried to replace that core at one point. Cut off the top 2" of fiberglass. Tried to dig out the core, but could not get any out because it was like scraping concrete. That was on an 89. I talked directly to Carver, as my stringers were providing a high reading on an infrared meter. Carver said the meter is probably reading the wood part of the core, but the resin will mitigate that reading. Your bilge is painted grey, which will show cracks in the paint if there is any flex to the stringers. Clean at base of stringer, inspect for cracks in paint. If there are no cracks, that translates to no flex. Good luck. er
Thanks for the update, good to know.
