CAT 3116 Air Filter

Postby wsp2 » June 29th, 2024, 1:07 pm

I'm preparing to tackle my first oil change and was going to do the air filters as well. When I go to the CAT parts site and enter the air filter part number (7W-5040) I see the filter, but I'm not seeing the outer foam filter. Does anyone know if that comes with the air filter, or do I need to purchase that separately? I'm struggling to find a part number for it.

The ones currently on the engine are probably 30 years old and seem brittle. Thanks!

I'd guess they were purchased separately because you usually just clean the foam. If yours are getting brittle it's probably a good idea to change them though.
