I'm wanting to switch out the water heater in my boat. The current one has coolant lines coming from the engine but I'm replacing it with one which doesn't need the lines. Are the plugs which go into these ports a standard part, or was this some aftermarket setup?
I did see a diagram which shows the bottom port having a plug with part number 9S-4185, but it was a bit confusing because the part shows "threaded" but the picture isn't. https://parts.cat.com/en/mustang/9S-4185

Thanks. I'll get a couple of plugs based on the info in my original post. I hope the threads are all correct but luckily they only cost a few dollars.
If you can, use pipe dope on the plug threads before install, not the tape, they are pipe threads so should seal well even with the offshore ones.....
It acts as more of a lube/minor sealer that keeps the fitting easily removable down the road. Sometimes the tape can help to split a fitting, that is why I avoid it if I can, but if not don't overtighten..........
