Carver 4207 Aft Cabin Davit System

Have an 89 model with davit on top of sundeck. Currently have a 12 ft. Avon dingy weighing 400 pounds dry. Want to change dingy to 600 lb with same dimensions. Davit has no info plate. Does anyone know the capacity of the davit supplied with this Carver.

Hi, we had the same boat as yours with the davit for the hardtop. We had an 11ft Rendova and then a 10ft Rendova sitting on the hardtop and found a bunch of cracks in the hardtop because of the weight of the Rendovas. The 10ft Rendova probably weighed 600lbs and it still caused more cracks in the hardtop. If I were you, I would keep the dinghy as light as possible to prevent cracking and weakening of the hardtop.
The fella that bought our 4207 told me that he checked with Carver, and they stated that the hardtop was not designed to carry a dinghy, period, but I still see lots of boats with dinghies on the hardtops.

And the davit was rated at 1000lb capacity according to the manufacturers plate on the davit. It easily lifted the 700 lb 11ft Rendova.
