Post SIGH>>>>>>>> Land lubber weekend

Going to be a good weekend ad it will be spent on land. I am applying the new GripTide anti slip to cockpit and swim platform Saturday am as soon as warm and dry enough. Directions say 24 hours to light use. 72 hours for normal use. As much as we are going to feel cheated out of a weekend, it is best not to chance it and walk on it Sunday. Next weekend will be the bow and cat walks. UNLESS it is a premium weekend weather wise and then it will wat for another. We can’t wait to try out the SideShi ...

Post Carver 3227 Convertible Bimini Source

Searching for a vendor that makes a high quality (Preferably Stainless) fly bridge Bimini. Hopefully Sunbrella fabric as well? I have looked at several 3227 boats equipped with Bimini tops, but none had any manufacturer tags on them :banghead:

Post Wet Carpet

On a Carver 466, I recently found damp / wet carpet at the bottom of the steps leading to the aft master stateroom. We did find a plugged condensate drain on an AC unit but that has been fixed and the AC cabinet appears dry at this time. We checked the AC unit under the master stateroom bed but found nothing wet there. We removed the master bath shower seat for access but can't find any moisture in that area either. Anyone have any thoughts?

Post Key to Entry doors

We just purchased a 1989 3607 and it didn't come with a key to the doors that lead to the interior of the boat. Does anyone know where we can get them or do we need to replace the lock.

Post 93 Mariner Air Conditioner Replacement

My 93 MarineAir 16K BTU air conditioner died last year. Breaker popping when the compressor/water pump came on. Disconnected the pump, still trips. Measured continuity from compressor motor to ground...confident that the compressor motor is toast. Later confirmed.

For a year, searched the interweb's for experience in reaching/replacing the a/c unit. In the Mariner, the kitchen cabinets and the rest of the boat were built around the a/c unit. No good way to get to it. The interwebs were not a ...

Post Icer-ette

Ok, so I'm sure everyone has had their fun with Icerett machines... well My Ice maker (Part # I34W) has quit.

Doesn't take a long search to find them online, but the Icer-Ette units are $300, and right next to it in your web browser search is a "whirlpool" or something else for like $55! They LOOK identical. Has anyone played with this and did they fit? connect? Work?

Just can't figure out why the big price spread...

Post 97' 355AC Rudder Stuffing Box

Hi all,

I've been chasing water for a year now and have chased it back to the starboard rudder stuffing box. There's a very quick drip out of the top. I've got the aft stateroom pulled apart, specifically the night stand on the starboard side and I can get at the jam nut and stuffing box. I've never adjusted (tightened) one of these beofre, I just ordered a 2.25" stuffing box wrench short handle does any one have any tipsfor loosening the jam nut? Looking for any help you might offer. It seems t ...

Post SeaStar hydraulic steering

Noticed my steering started feeling chunky then felt like I lost it altogether while underway at one point, then came back for me. Clearly the system has a leak and will fill + bleed. But looking at the fitting it looks like the source of the leak, but I'm not seeing a volume of fluid just some spray.

Does this look like it's a simple repair or replace the cylinder in full?

Thanks
Dan

Post Help with boat internet

I am really struggling with the quality of products and services, as well as information available about getting/improving internet on your boat. I know Satellite based systems are just stupid expensive and completely impractical for me, so I have eliminated that option. Starlink looks interesting, but they have no marine antenna yet, and it is waitlisted everywhere. That leaves me with cellular and WIFI extenders....

Lets start with WIFI. As I see it there are 2 categories of hardware availa ...
