New to forum and our family is proud owner of new to us 2007 40 Motor yacht, model 3808. So the learning has begun as this is our first cruiser... loving the adventure!



An interesting one that I can't find in manuals or videos... The bow cabin has a porthole/skylight with an inside "1/2 1/2" cover that slides across the opening. One half is screen and the other half is blackout shade. But the latches for opening the porthole are on the other side of the cover and not obvious how to ...

If anyone has a picture or two from the engine room hatches insides I'd appreciate it. I'd like to know what kind and how they were attached.



On my boat, the covers are completely loose. So no hinges, rusted twist 'lock'. In the wiring diagrams I found a 'engine room lighting' item. Obivously that's also gone over time.



Currently I have to lift the hatch to the side from the center, it's travel hampered by a seat-hinge-mount thing so have to lift it a bit awkwardly and then balance it in the g ...

Anybody have a recommendation for a product or procedure to clean and polish stainless steel railings ?

As winter looms on, I have removed the forward hatch on my 390CPMY to replace the “glass/polycarbonate “ panel. Getting the old one out was easy, a slice with a razor blade around the edge and out it came. I* have seen many ideas of refloating a piece in using butyl. I have been looking for a replacement piece, but Lexan is either clear or lightly smoked or just plain old black. Any ideas of a source? Carver referred me to Bomar, but they have no direct fit and advised to use Lexan. I also have ...

Been looking for a nice looking dimmer to replace a standard switch like the ones we use at home. Really not much out there but I did find this. They were $18 CDN delivered however I guess covid increased the price a little.

Biggest issue is nobody seems to make a 12v dimmer switch that fits into a standard electrical box, this one does and does not look like crap. Only negative is if you have a dua ...

I am in the process of purchasing the boat.
It is on a closed lake (Lake Lanier in Georgia).
I am having it trailered to Chattanooga for the trip home to Huntsville.
I would like to remove the bow pads for the trailer part to keep the Diesel Exhaust from collecting on them.
They seem to be bolted down somehow as they are very well secured.
There are no bolts going thru the top of the master cabin though.
Any ideas on how to remove?

I have a missing piece of window channel/trim on my 356. Anyone have a source for it. Attached is a photo of the shape I am looking for.
