Post CO2 detectors went off while underway

Greetings All,

Took some friends out for a cruise on the bay yesterday. Everything was fine until I opened her up to about 4000rpms then the Co2 detectors started going off. I immediately slowed down to idle and checked around. Inside smelled a little bit like gas. I will say that I had left the sliding door wide open during the whole trip. I’m wondering if it was the fumes from the two engines going into the salon area???? Also had just filled both tanks before heading out.

I have a 350 Mar ...

Post Spare Parts while on a LONG passage

Good Morning!

I am getting ready to leave from Cincinnati, OH to the Florida Keys on my 1998 Carver 405. She is powered by two Crusader 454 XL's and a Kohler 8e generator.

I think I have all of the oil change requirements met

All of my research tells me that I should also bring spare impellers and bilge pumps. The impellers should not be too hard to find for the engines and generator, but aren't there several different bilge pumps on board?

What spare parts does the group recommend outside of those ...

Post Engine Issues

Well unfortunately I started the trip yesterday and the starboard engine would not increase above 3000 rpms. Generator started making a clanking noise which was a rocker arm that needed to be secured back down.

I never got out of the Galveston Bay after filling up with fuel. New plug wires and a new IAC Valve but that did not help. I am wondering if (you guessed it) trash from the tanks clogged up a fuel injector or two after filling the tanks.

Engine seems to be fine without a load, fuel pressu ...

Post My Vacation

There are few things like a boating vacation. Last week was my chance to do some boating. My vacation started at midnight Monday August 6th when my work shift ended. Having prior to my vacation loaded the boat with the "stuff" I would need for the week I headed home. I grabbed the last of what I would need and headed to the marina.

About 1:30 AM I reached the marina. I then removed my cockpit cover and started prepping the boat for departure. I turned on the weather radio wanting to get the repo ...

Post Specs to reprop a Carver 3207

I have a 1985 Carver 3207 Aft Cabin. I hit something floating beneath the surface in deep water, and despite prop tuning, I still have some vibration from the starboard prop. Prop shop says it should be replaced.

I am looking at getting new Michigan Propeller DQX 4 blades to replace the original Dynaquads. Michigan Propeller needs to know the following information to help with selection.

1. Gear Ratio

2. Max Rated RPM for engines

3. Wide Open Throttle RPM

4. Wide Open Throttle hull speed

Post Cruise to Holy Island UK

WE are 2 days away from setting off on our cruise to Lindisfarne (Holy Island) on the North East coast of the UK.

The trip starts in York, well inland, motoring down river and out into the Humber Estuary before going out into the North Sea. Turning north we head up the coast, dropping into a couple of coastal marinas before reaching our anchorage just off the Ilse. Total journey one way is approx. 250 nautical miles.

This will be done in our 1989 Carver 3207 running with twin Volvo TAMD41's.

Post Fuel Vent 326 Aft Plugged??

Pulled up to the gas dock after a weekend on the water and port engine took 100 litres and Starboard wouldn't take a drop as it only burped the gas back out. After some reading I think it may be the vent is plugged, but after checking quickly this am I assume the vent is out the back of the boat near the water line but if thats the case I'm not sure what could be the cause? Anyone else have this happen?
