Post 2 batteries 1issue

OK so I replaced both batteries in my Carver 3207 1987 i figured now would be a good time to label the batteries 1and 2 well anyway I can start the boat just fine on battery 1 but battery 2 brand new in great shape will not start the boat... I hear a sort of ark coming from the battery switch.... I'm thinking I should replace it... But maybe this is the way its supposed to be? Maybe battery 2 is considered house bank?

Post Camper 22 Info?

Hello All -

I live in Costa Rica and today ran into a boat which is a Carver, it is 22’ long and it appears to be a late 70’s Camper model. It seems like a very well made boat, and I really like the design and use of space. I am thinking of purchasing it and putting in a diesel motor. I can’t seem to find much info about these boats though. Any links or info would be appreciated...

Thanks

Post Santego 27 waste system

I just got an 88 Santego 27. It came from a river where the P.O. Apparently discharged overboard. I went to pump out at my marina with no luck. I'm assuming there is a Y valve but I can't find it Thanks for help!

Post Auto Transfer Switch

Hello all. New Member. Have had a used 1993 330 mariner for a year now. Been dealing with an issue with power on the outlet side of my system. I have 2 30 amp inlets, one for ac and one for the receptacles and appliances. I apparently have some sort of automatic transfer switch/solenoid that takes it from shore to generator automatically. I've done some troubleshooting and process of elimination, but I'm not an electrician, I'm trying to knock out the obvious stuff. The power inlets feed into a ...

Post Volvo Diesel Injector Servicing

I figure it is about time (1200 hrs) to have my injectors serviced and want to get any info I can from anyone who has done this before. Apparently they are rather easy to remove. I will do so for both engine when I lay up in fall. I was told I should number them so they go back in the same spot. Any advice or tips for removal or anything for that matter would be appreciated.

I do know of a good place that does this work specifically on Volvo Penta diesels so that part is under control. Was told ...

Post US Customs ROAM App

This application is for Canadians and I assume returning Americans who need to report their arrival into the States entering by boat or plane.

Had guests on board the last few days and wanted to go to the US side. We could not use our Nexus as the guests had none and the reporting center was out of the way so I asked about alternatives and I stumbled across the best thing since sliced bread! Definitely 2 thumbs up

The application is for your smart phone or tablet which is called ROAM. This is not ...

Post Help!

So it turns out that our starboard engine requires a new transmission. We have a 1982 Carver Mariner 3396 with two Crusader 350 engines. The ballpark quote for replacing with a rebuilt tranny is $10K. Reasonable???? Next question would be can they be re-engined with smaller engine as we don't ever go on plane and most of our anchorages are within 2 - 3 hours of cruising time from dock??? If so what might you consider????? We are hoping to boat for another 10 - 20 years, love the layout of our b ...

Post reupholstery

I reupholstered the upper banquet that the previous owner had put in. Removed the ugly "pleather" that was hard to sit on and got some nice outdoor fabric. Still need to do a couple of finishing touches but very happy with how everything turned out.

Post Lake Water Temperature Gauge

Wish I knew how many times I am asked what is the water temp before we go swimming. Problem is I need to power up the depth sounder and the chart plotter not to mention power them down when done. Came across this rather inexpensive oled unit that is easy to install and discrete. I will mount in the transom doors where my shore power is located as this is right beside the door leading to the swim platform. Pretty easy to install and with a small momentary push button located beside it, just push ...
