Post Carver 404 bow tunnel thruster
- Posted by: PJHoffnet » December 19th, 2016, 10:07 am
- Forum: The Project Center
Has anyone installed one? Have one to help describe the placement of components?
While I don't have a 404 owner's manual, looking at a 406's manual, it looks like the forward AC unit is right below the rack in the V berth - right where I'd assume you'd place the thruster's motor/battery and go 'down' to tunnel.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

Post Carver 404 Flybridge bimini to hard top?

Has anyone ever done the switch? In all the boats I've ever sailed upon the Bimini has added a lot of noise with flappin' and rattlin'.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

Post Marine Air heat won't start

- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
I have a Carver 405. The forward Marine Air unit (VRP 16K) will run in the cooling mode but will not switch on in the heating mode.T he heat light on the Passport II control panel does not come on when calling for heat. I ran the diagnostic test (power switch pressed while turning on the AC power) and the heat runs for its allotted 10 minutes. During the test the heat light on the control panel illuminates as it should.
I would think that the diagnostic is bypassing something while executing the ...

Post Hull type?
- Posted by: nightsky » December 15th, 2016, 6:39 pm
- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
I have always had full displacement hulls in the 3 commercial fish boats I owned prior to buying my 390. Not being totally sure of what type of hull this would be classified as, I thought I would ask this forum. Is the 390 Carver considered a planing hull or semi-displacement? I'm thinking that as it only draws 3'3" that it would be a planing hull. What say you?

Post 2004 420 sport
- Posted by: vorpefactorx » December 15th, 2016, 8:23 am
- Forum: Electrical
I have a 2004 420 sport with Volvo TAMD diesels. 75% of the time when I start the Port engine my battery / alternator warning light / alarm goes off. The gauge is reading correct voltage and a mechanic put a meter on it an it showed correct voltage. I changed the alternator out as a precaution and same thing. Any clues or thoughts?

Greetings,
New owner of a 1973 Carver 2565 Santa Cruz that got abandoned almost 12 years ago. Just brought her home last week from Lake Erie to my farm in Carolina for the restoration project. The price was to good to pass for boat and trailer under $100.00. Oh yea, there is some work to be done. I've cleaned her up from the critters who moved in and stayed for years it appeared, some wood rot but minimal. Overall she wasn't in too bad of shape for being 43 years old. Have no idea what shape the ...

Post Windlass
- Posted by: mibeaulieu » December 10th, 2016, 3:10 pm
- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
I just bought a 1992 Santiago 638 this past fall and I'm looking at a few things that need upgrading.
1. Windlass - I was thinking about the Maxwell RC8-8.
Anyone use the Maxwell? The boat is all wrapped and I don't have access to the bow to measure anything. Anyone know if this will fit the Santego? Thoughts on the quality. Right now the boat has a "Good" all rope windlass but it won't accommodate any chain so I was thinking I would swap them out.
2. Looking at adding Radar and the Simard GO ...
