You have done amazing work! I'm impressed with all your projects but I particularly like your curved boarding stairs and the new helm. Is the wood grain a decal? What is the material and where did you buy it? How did you get the words in the carbon fiber? Please advise I wouldn't mind attempting similar projects myself. Thanks...Gary

Gary thank you. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Just trying to enjoy the summer before its gone

Yes the wood is a vinyl decal over 1/4" PVC from homedepot. Routed the corners and drilled the holes. Place over the old dash. Gauges hold it in place. Carbonfiber I cut small squares and filled with gorilla grip two part epoxy. The labels are from seasystems. I also built a stern thruster for next to nothing I will update on that when I get a chance.

Morning,
Do you have any concerns about the extra weight for granite counter tops? I will be replacing my countertops this winter or next summer, but I really have no idea just how much weight you can add to a boat like this. Should I not even worry about it? I was also going to add a sliding glass door and stairs to the bridge.

Yes definitly would have a big issue on that size boat adding granit.

In looking at my post I forgot to mention that that's not reall granit. It's a thick vynle overlay. The best part you can't tell the difference unless to tap on it to hear its not stone. If and when it wears out you just peel it of.

They do make a thin granit like a 1/4" or so and I have heard of people using it on their boats

Your carver is really looking great! You have a foot or so more of beam. I thought about it on the 3207 but it might be a bite much on that boat. Or maybe not? Nothing beats the real thing!

Believe me, I was concerned about the extra 1000 pounds or so.
The boat floats just like any other Mariner, and gets up and goes just fine. I am guessing I'm ok since I do not use house water (I stay at docks and hook up) which would weigh about 750 pounds if full.
Plus we rarely use the head. One thing I was thinking of exploring - there are three fresh water tanks, and thinking of separating one from the rest and using it for head water, just in case we have to use the on-board head.

I like the vinyl idea and I think I will try it. I have very little countertop so I am not too concerned about the weight of granite, but honestly the vinyl overlay looks easier to complete. I have too many projects as a whole and time is a high priority for me.

Where did you buy this vinyl from?
