Shore Power Loss

My shore power is not working. There is no 110 at the outlets and the refrigerator is not working. My generator and 5V is not working either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Start from the dock and make sure you have power there. What condition is the cordset in? Is the power inlet show any signs of corrosion? (the wires on the back also get corroded). Do you have an onboard voltmeter? Reverse polarity indicator?

What type of device do you have that switches from shore to genset... a dual breaker setup or a A/B (shore/genset) switch?

What is the "5 volt" system?

I meant the 12V system.

I am checking the connectors and lines.

I cant locate the generator and battery charger in the engine room.

So no power anywhere? 120 VAC or 12 VDC?

As others have said, start with the dock outlet, cordset, and work back from there. Check the shore power switch on the panel and make sure it's set to shore power, not off or gen. Check the main breaker and make sure it's not tripped. When you lose AC power, the battery charger won't work, and then the batteries go down over time. Is your boat in the water? If so, get this addressed NOW because the bilge pumps won't work either and your boat can sink at the slip.

It is quite possible that your 87 montego does not have a generator or battery charger, both were options and most did not have the genny. Check and verify you have power at the cord and the breakers are not tripped as others have mentioned. If you have an electric stove check it. If only the outlets are dead, you probably have a bad or tripped gfi receptacle.

Thanks for the feedback, started with the cordset and switch panel; 110 is restored.

We checked for the battery chargers by pulling all wires from positive side of battery and checked for 12 V source to ground, nothing there.

We likely do no have battery charger. Does anyone know what it looks like and where it would be located???

They are typically in the engine compartment if they're a marine rated unit. Turn on all your 120v breakers, then listen for humming. If you have one and it's an original unit, it'll likely hum if it's working. Your vintage won't look fancy. Probably a metal blue or silver colour, may or may not have a meter on the front cover. Have you tested your batteries to see what their state of charge is? Do you have a battery selector switch on board? If it is OFF, you won't have 12 volt power. See pics:
