Fresh Water Pump Replacement

I own a 2006 560 and my fresh water pressure has failed. What would be the best replacement pump?

When the fresh water pump failed on my Carver I took the model number off the failed one and bought another of the same type and model number. I figured if the first one lasted 35 years the replacement would outlast me. We'll see.

I really liked the "soft start" pump that I had, but it was expensive. I didn't like it much when it failed after only a couple years. The motor and switch were fine, but the electronics that control the "soft start" had failed. I went back to a conventional pump. Just make sure to get one big enough for all the fixtures on the boat, so you don't drastically lose pressure when someone else turns on a faucet. If you don't have an accumulator tank, consider putting on in somewhere.

I have had a few soft starts, none lasted more than a few years. Terrible reliability. I spoke with someone at Jabsco regarding the repeating issues and was asked if I had an accumulator to which I replied no. He asked me if I had a water heater and told me this qualifies as an accumulator which cannot be used with their soft start pump. Ended up transferring the unit to to my wash down where it never failed and bought a conventional pump for the potable water which also never failed.

A properly filled water tank does not function at all like an accumulator.

If you have one that's trapping air inside, it might, but I'd also think you'd have all kinds of other issues (lack of hot water, chance of overheating the element, air bursts in the hot water flow, etc, etc).

I'd like to see why they think that an accumulator is a bad idea with those pumps. Seems like it would make it much easier on the pump!

I agree the accumulator thing was an attempt to hide the fact they were a piece of junk by trying to dazzle the consumer with BS.

Went through 2 in 2 years until I switched it over to wash down duty but then again it really sees very little time there. Regardless, look up the variable speed units (any brand) and you will see how bad the ratings are. Not recommended.

Any Model recommendations? I'm looking to replace my pump as well. I would like something super quiet because the pump is directly under the floor in the kitchen. I'm also thinking about adding an accumulator to quiet down some of the water pulsing.

I was looking at the Seaflow 51 series 5.5 GMP pump. Any one use have experience with this one?
