50 amp female to a 30 amp male

No, it looks like you do have a 125-50 which Carver used to put in their boats. It is an obsolete service that few still use. Make new cords...simplest solution.

Qr Bbpost You say the marina will let you install 50A service however I seriously doubt they want an outdated 125v 50a service. As mentioned this is almost impossible to find and discontinued long ago. They will like 125/250 50a service but you cannot connect to this. If they do let you install a 125v 50a receptacle you will still not be able to connect at other marinas without an adapter.

Midnightsun is correct. When your marina agreed to pay for new service, they are assuming you meant 125/250-50 amp. Someday when you leave, they will have service that no one will be able to use. And again, you still won't be able to plug in at any other marinas.

Question for ya since ya know way more about electrical than I do.

I just drove this boat from Seabrook TX north of Galveston stopping at no less than 6 or 8 spots for fuel and shore power around 500 miles. This is my first issue with running into 30 amp connections at my marina.

Every marina I stopped at had 50Amp that my shore power cord would work on with no issues.

Why would my marina slip which is only 6 years old put in 30 amp connections? Trying to save money or is 30 amp the new connection?

Because this is the most widely used connection. Post some more pictures because if you can plug in everywhere you go then you must have the adapter to modification already.

Why are you seeing more 30 amp? Usually, boats don't have 50 amp plugs until you get at least in the mid to upper 30 footers. I doubt you will ever see an under 35' with 50 amp power and there are a whole lot more boats in the 25'-35' range than you will see in the 35'-45' range. So yes, the demand for 30 amp power is way more than for 50 amp.
I'm at a marina with maybe 175 boats. I would say at least 90% are plugged into 30 amp.
Can't answer why you were able to plug in at all these marinas. Do you have any adaptors you are using?

Exactly, 50a is more when you get into dual and triple AC units found on 35'+ boats which are definitely not a majority.

From someone who has a 405 and have the dual 50 amp 125 v from carver which is what you also have. My marina has dual 30 amp service. I am using my oem shore cord and made up a 10ft adaptor cord. Female 50 amp to male 30 amp. Been like this 7 yrs. My marina luckily has over sized there service but installed 30 amp breakers. I also made up a y cord for times I travel that have 50 amp 250 power. So I can pick whatever is available. If the marina has only sized the pedestal at the dock for dual 30 125 just changing those receptacles is nort going to give you more amps to use but probably trip a dock breaker feeding the pedestal. I have 3 acs on shore power side 2 but they are 2 16's and a 9 for the aft cabin. It's right on 30 amps when all are running. If your doing 3 16's you'll be above 30 amps for sure on that may need to consider 1 ac to be smaller . Its up to you about but you will very seldom if ever need anything above 30 amps on side 1. I would just make up some short adapter cables and plug in to what they have. If you travel it will be good to have some options and this will be easiest and least expensive too.

Fyi if you want to know the 50 amp 125 plugs style see male marinco 6361crn and female 50 amp 6360crn. The 30amp male would be style of marinco 305CRPN 30A 125V . Other manufacturers make plugs these are the configurations of what you are seeking. Ac cord length you need of 8/3 or 6/3 at bit over kill but better than two small of wire size. and correct ends female 50 and male 30 is all you need. Purchase from ebay or similiar

Easiest, cheapest way to go...just buy a 30 amp cord, cut off the female end and replace it with a new 125v-50 amp female end. Done. You can now connect to your marina power and just about any marina you happen to visit.
Buy a 50 amp to 2x30 amp Y adaptor and you will be covered anywhere you go.
