Radar Arch - Great Loop - 466
It looks as though I may need to release and tip the radar arch on our 466 we decided to do the loop. I presume this is doable? Does anyone have experience here that might want to chime in?
Thanks in advance

Re: Radar Arch - Great Loop - 466
Hi,
I've put the super structure on a 444, 466 would be very similar. It's not something you're going to do easily. There are bolts under the sides of the arch that bolt it to bridge and the hardtop is also integrated into it with a plexi-glass window back there and lots of caulking. Radar, etc is mounted on there and lots of wiring going through there that will most likely be too tight to simply tilt it back. I don't think you'll be able to pivot it back and if you could it's not going to give you a lot of clearance.
Sorry I couldn't give you a simple answer to this...

We have a 506 with the hard enclosure and didn't have any problems going under the bridge in Chicago if that's what you're referring to. We just loosened the anchor light, but that wasn't necessary. We had plenty of clearance. We also have some friends with a 466 who have done the loop in the last 2 years and they had no problems.

Thanks Secobb,
Did you also do the Erie Canal? Any problems there?

I am looking at a 460 voyager that lists water line to arch at 19'11". The Chicago bridge is listed at 19" 1". The 506 is listed at waterline to arch at 20" 10" and the 466 at 19"5". Both made it under the bridge? Is Carver measuring to the anchor light?

What's the datum for the bridge clearance? 19.1' above what level of water?
The water is at an all time high right. 5 years ago, it was about 4-5' lower. Last year it was at least 1 foot lower than now, and the year before more than 2 feet lower than this year.

To answer the question... yes, Carver is measuring to the top of the anchor light for air draft.

Re: Radar Arch - Great Loop - 466
I measured a 46 voyager with hardtop. It is just over 16 feet from waterline to arch. Add whatever is present above that measure but the superstructure cant be made lower than 16'2", give or take.
