Re: Urgent and I need help
I actually have a steady stream coming out on both sides of the shaft seal where the nut tightens up to the point i will be spending the night on the boat until it is corrected to make sure the water is bilged out.
I replaced everything to do with this issue only to find out my mechanic didnt do what I paid him to do.
I have been a mechanic/auto service manager for 25 years so I get we make mistakes but I have found so much he didn't do that I paid his company to do with a decent reputation.

Re: Urgent and I need help
If maintained and adjusted properly, there's nothing wrong with the logs you have. They shouldn't drip much when static. When properly adjusted, it would take a LONG time for water to get that high just from the logs.
The question is how was the water allowed to get so high? Pumps or switches not working?

Were the breakers for the 2000's tripped? Or were they wired incorrectly and didn't automatically turn on?

If he packed the logs, it could be a simple adjustment of just tightening the nut a bit.

Okay I understand at this point and I will go to dripless when I need to haul out in the future.
What can I purchase to stop this water leaking in at this point?

Re: Urgent and I need help
I installed new everything Viper. New bilges, new blowers and switches.
I was told by the forum that my 98 405 has a 7.5 amp wiring system and Rule 2000 needed 15 amp so they trip

Re: Urgent and I need help
They trip because they are trying to push more water than the electrical system can support I was tolf.
So all 3 breakers underneath the stairs were tripped.

Re: Urgent and I need help
Just try tightening the nut to see if that stops the water. You must loosen off the jam nut first. Don't tighten too much, it must be allowed to drip once every few minutes. Too tight and you may overheat and damage the log and the shaft. If you have to really crank on the but to get it tight enough to stop the water, chances are you need to add or replace the packing material. Keep us posted.

Re: Urgent and I need help
I will be installing new 1500 Rule so the system will go back to being automated and automatic.
Just disappointed my installer 10 hours away didnt know this... geez he was repairing a brand new marquis bottom that had been damaged at a cost of 100k plus while I was there. I had to wait on it to be put back in the water before I could be hauled out. Still had the wrapping on the boat and I just never expected this from someone so qualified
