Re: New Inverter/House Bank
I took some pictures of the terminals that are below the landed cables for future reference (kinda dumb of victron to have those jammed underneath the main power cables like that):

Mounted the charger in its temporary location for testing and commissioning, though I still need to open up a larger access hatch for it's final home in this cabinet:

Re: New Inverter/House Bank
I think I'm going to use a custom panel from these folks to enlarge that access:

Re: New Inverter/House Bank
Now I need to figure out how to get the new bank attached to the existing dc. This switch is going to go bye bye:

Re: New Inverter/House Bank
I understand what is going on here generally not specifically, if you know what I'm saying. There are feeds coming in from what used to be two distinct battery banks of which now only the starboard bank remains active, and three switches for essential circuits (bilge pumps). There are two switches that were wired in to disable the voltage meters on the main panel (not sure why). There should be two feeds coming out to go to the two main dc breakers on the panel, which I assume come from the two 60a push-type breakers that are tied together in here? I've gotten a little lost that's for sure. Gonna hafta bust out the meter. I'm going to label things as I go:

Re: New Inverter/House Bank
On another note - the compressor for the AC kicked on while I had my hands on all these wires and scared the bejesus out of me!
Is this amount of Frost normal when using reverse cycle heat?
Also - what is the easiest way to clean this? Compressed air?

Re: New Inverter/House Bank
Did you find the original charger feeds to that panel switch.....if not I would check continuity on each of those cables to find where each one goes....Carver did some interesting wiring runs.....do you have the wiring schematic ?
To add, Looks a little dirty in that pic...just vacuum it..

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: New Inverter/House Bank
I am thankful that this article came out right while I'm (attempting) to wire up a similar system. I like the idea of dc to dc chargers for the start bank. Also regulating the two alternators and using all that juice for the house bank is a very interesting idea as well:
