We recently bought a Carver Riviera and it does not have a fridge.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good 12 v fridge? The space for the fridge is about the size of a big mini fridge.

If cost is a factor, you may consider just getting a 110V like you have in a collage dorm room. Obviously wont run on your 12V Dc battery but will run just fine while plugged into shore power.

I bought an Isotherm refrigerator to replace my aft deck ice maker. This thing works great. If I turn it past 6 it will freeze my beer even in temps well over 90 degrees and sun is beating directly on it.
If you go for a dorm type, don't expect it to get below 40 degrees when the cabin temp hits 85 or more. Otherwise, it will be ok.

I'll put in my vote for vitrifrigo fridge/freezer they use Danfoss compressors and have a 3yr warranty. Had 2 of them no issues work great

If you decide on one of the AD/DC units mentioned above, check the pricing in marine retailers, then try the same units at an RV supplier. I find their prices are usually a little cheaper.

If you go with a household unit and want it to work out on the lake, hook it up permanently to an inverter. This way, you can use it out on the water, and when on shore power, the charger will maintain the batteries while the unit is working. Or you can unplug and plug between the inverter and shore power but that's a pain. Setting up a switch to select one source or the other wouldn't be that difficult either. You can expect it to work more often than a marine/RV unit though so it's something to consider if you spend a lot of time on the water as it will drain your battery bank faster.

Thank you all for your responses. We are on a mooring so it will have to be 12 v so i will look into the isotherm and vitrifrigo brands. We will probably keep it powered down unless we are going to be using it for a trip/vacation. Otherwise i probably need to invest in a good solar panel.

What is in there now ? Is the fridge just missing or is it one of those coolers in the space. It would be great if all the wiring for 110/12 is there.....Is there a breaker on the panel ?

Looks like they have a 20% off sale starting soon, i think i will get the isotherm you mentioned.
