Genset battery switch

Post by tonyiiiafl »

My 390CPMY has the battery shutoff switch mounted on the side of the sound cover on the genset. To me, it is a PITA to open the floor to turn on, run genset then do the same to turn off. I am thinking of relocating it on the side of the stairs where my inverter is mounted, ANyone else move their switch?

Are you talking about genset start battery? Why turn it off and on all the time? I've never turned mine off.

Only turn mine off in the off season and leave it on all boating season. But then again I see no problem in moving it if you want, cables will be the biggest expense in that project.

Ya the only time you really need to shut it off is for the winter if you don't want to disconnect the batteries or to service the circuit. Instead of relocating the switch to a conspicuous spot like that, you can use one of these; remotely activated with a rocker switch at the helm or any convenient place you want...

Same here. Only turn mine off when the boat is on land.

I'll echo everyone else, in fact all my battery switches remain on until haul out.
