tgebler wrote:QR_BBPOST We bought our first boat 4 years ago (a 396 Carver Aft Cabin). There was a leaning curve but we are pros now. Back in the 1970s, I ran small boats for the USCG but nothing over 24 feet and all single screw. I now am very comfortable with the twin screws and can dock with ease.
If you ran and docked single straight screw boats, twin screws should be a breeze for you!!
It is an art to dock single screw boats, especially those over 30'. I have had experience, but never got close to mastering! :-D

myself and some friends used to charter a single screw 42 custom out of hatteras island NC every year for blue fin. I forget the captains name, but he could put that boat in the slip in seconds in any weather. He let me try it once with no wind and little tide. I put it in, but it took a while!

WOW, what a nice 1st boat. Thinking back, my 1st boat was a 12' Fiberform with a 5 HP Firestone O/B. That where my love of boating started. Hope you have many fine adventures aboard. Also, please share your pictures of your boating experiences. We love pics.
