For the past couple of years, the CG allowed for renewal for 1-5 years. Effective Jan 1, they were supposed to go to a 5 year only renewal for recreational boats. A last minute change came about on 12/27, and they will continue to renew for 1 up to 5 years.
The fee schedule on their website says 5 years only, but it is a mistake and will be corrected soon. Got this directly from the CG doc office.
