Replacement Canvas approx cost Canada
The canvas on my old 28’ voyager is ending it’s lifespan.I know it’s going to be big $ for a complete redo. Any body think the could ball park the price? Trying to prepare myself…lol. Frame is in good shape and can be reused. All windows have screens sewn in and I would like to do that again. If it is too costly I may just do the bridge this time.

Prices vary tremendously from area to area however for a really good job by somebody that knows what he is doing in todays economy, I am going to estimate around $12,000 CDN.

I am moving the boat next week from Port Dover on Lake Erie to Victoria Harbour on Georgian Bay. I know the new marina has a policy in place where you have to use them for all repairs and maintenance done on sight so if I chose to have it done while it’s there I will just have to pay their price. I had guessed around $14000 in my head so we are in the same ballpark.

If you have a choice at all, try Sylvain at Georgian Canvas for a quote.....he did all our stuff for years, real nice guy who has attention to detail and easy to work with....He is in Midland not far from where you are going, don't know what marina he is with now. Are you going to Queens Cove perhaps.... Booking up there could be a year out though so be forewarned.......good luck on your trip.
Are you going Lake St Clair and up or down to the Trent ?

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Yes, I am going to Queens Cove…I had no idea they were backed up. I haven’t even inquired about it yet. I will give Georgian Canvas a call. I had a boat in penetang for years so I do know the area pretty good. Maybe I can remove the old stuff as a template and have somewhere off site do it over the winter? I am putting it on a truck this time. Unfortunately I don’t have the time right now to move it by water, not to mention I’m sure it would cost me quadruple the fuel cost. $2.30 litre in port Doverbud37 wrote:QR_BBPOST If you have a choice at all, try Sylvain at Georgian Canvas for a quote.....he did all our stuff for years, real nice guy who has attention to detail and easy to work with....He is in Midland not far from where you are going, don't know what marina he is with now. His shop is at the SW corner of 12 and 93....we loved it in Penetang lived there for years but have moved south now. The back up is just a good guess on my part....yea the truck will work, your boat can fit under the bridges on the 400 with no drama.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Our marina also has this policy, however, I believe it is only for "hull & mechanical". I purchased a walking foot sewing machine and hope to get our canvas done next season.Merkinbrumsky wrote:QR_BBPOST new marina has a policy in place where you have to use them for all repairs and maintenance done on sight

I believe it is any third party labour on marina property. I guess I could take it somewhere else and tie it up to have it measured?

Re: Replacement Canvas approx cost Canada
Anything is possible but first see who works for Queens Cove.....the issue is the marinas have an overcharge which pushes the final cost of the job up......if you could arrange the remote it would be great so long as it is a good shop.....Merkinbrumsky wrote:QR_BBPOST I believe it is any third party labour on marina property. To get a good looking , well fitting job the canvas needs to be fitted even after the template is made and partially sewn and the final finish goes after more fittings from there. Good luck on your move back to the BAY....

Re: Replacement Canvas approx cost Canada
Turns out Queen’s Cove uses Georgian Canvas. Looks like if I get it done it will be quality work. Spoke to Sylvain this morning, and yes, he’s booking a year in advance
He quoted me $13,000-$14,000
I guess that’s what I was expecting anyhow.
